Vauxhall Ampera on it’s way
The new model from Vauxhall, the Ampera is almost here. In this picture we see the new higher powered version of the company’s innovative new hybrid.
This also means that it will get a more powerful battery and a larger petrol engine that we will see on the top spec version along with a sports makeover to distinguish it from the standard Ampera. The regular version uses the GM’s Voltec Propulsion system that combines a 148bhp electric motor powered by a 16kWh Li-Ion battery and a 1.4 litre petrol engine.
That gives the car a top speed of 37mph on electricity before the petrol engine kicks in recharging the battery. The total range is 310 miles. Using both engines the Ampera is capable of a top speed of 100mph and a time of 9 second from 0 to 60.
