The Taxi of Tomorrow
A few years back TLC(NY Taxi and Limousine Commission) announced that they are searching for a new vehicle to replace the current NY Taxis. Thus they created a website where people could propose their ideas regarding the Taxi of Tomorrow. One of the ideas that stud out from the croud is the UniCab.
The rules for NYC’s Taxi of Tomorrow are simple:
- Meets highest safety standards
- Superior passenger experience
- Superior driver comfort and amenities
- Appropriate purchase price and ongoing maintenance and repair costs
- Smaller environmental footprint (lower emissions and improved fuel economy)
- Smaller physical footprint (with more usable interior room)
- Compliance with appropriate Americans with Disabilities Act requirements
- Iconic design that will identify the new taxi with New York City
Respecting these guidelines the UniCab features seating for four passengers, an infotainment center that displays intended routes,attractions and a great view of the city, and a automated ramp for people with disabilities. Despite the fact that it’s only a sketch the UniCab shows us the way to the future where taking a cab will be green way to travel .
