BMW CLS Rival
This is BMW’s new rival for the Mercedes CLS. The Gran Cope concept was revealed at an exclusive Design Night Event in Beijing and represents BMW’s styling boss Adrian Van Hooydonk vision for the future.
The new design chief returned to the trademark grill and the conservative elegant look after the previous design boss Chris Bangle shocked BMW fans by using a controversial flame surfacing design.
The new design features a kidney grill with vertical razor-like strakes and new more aggresive bumpers and LED headlights. All BMW hallmarks are also present and correct: short overhangs front and rear, along wheelbase and the coupe-like roofline. At the rear we find the L-shaped LED lights,concave bootlid, third brake lights situated at the top of the rear windscreen and angular tailpipes.
The 5- 6- and 7-Series share the same modified versions of the underpinnings, so the 6 Series Gran Coupe will probably be equipped with the latest direct injection 3.0 litre turbo petrol and diesel engine or the V8 petrol. Also the hybrid system my be available.
