But enough with the introduction, let’s get down to business.

Ford announced that 2010 will be the year for the rebirth of a legend: The Capri. Unfortunately the only thing that remains from the legend is the name. The new Capri will a hatchback, a 3 door version of the new Focus which is not bad idea but it won’t score very high on popularity between the old Capri lovers.

The Capri will be aiming to beat the VW Scirocco and the Renault Megane Coupe, and it was designed to be a good looking sport hatchback but also a very practical car, given the head space and boot.

The engine range is pretty vast, you can buy an EcoBoost turbocharged 1.6 petrol engine with 148 or 178 bhp or you can go for the 1.6 TDCi diesel with 128bhp. The flagship will be the 2.0 litre diesel engine which can have as much as 197 bhp. There also seems to be a high performace version but unfortunately it won’t be the 2.5 litre ,straight 5 engine form the Focus ST and RS but a smaller 2.0 liter,200 bhp four cylinder engine.

The new Capri will probably show it’s face in the motor shows this year, until then we’ll have to settle for a picture:
